This barangay is presently called Limon Sur. Before the coming of the Spaniards this place was part of Lemon Barrio. The name Lemon come the first five names of inhabitants, these first five names are Leon, Esteban, Marcos, Obaldo and Narciso. These five men lived in their own houses but far from each other. They were sepated by a natural barriers like tall trees or forests and the contact between them is not easy.
Years passed by, the population increased because of the Inter-marriages of families. Leon was the oldest decided to give names of their place. The five men met under the orange tree called “Lemon”. It did not take too long to decide, Leon said: We are gather here to give name to our place and this Lemon tree stand as our mute witness and because of its shadow we stand grateful in it and incognizance to it unselfishness dumb as it we are oblige to honor it by naming our place Lemon after it. Accidentally and coincidentally, the first of our names begin from Leon, Esteban, Marcos, Obaldo and Narciso spells Lemon. So, from then on we will call this Lemon so that they will remember their forebears in this place.” After Leon finished his speech they all give their happy approval. Among the men Leon and Esteban lies in the south.
Later on, the people agreed to build a school building under the leadership of Esteban Amar in 1923 on top of the hill owned by Hermogenes Gaa who donated the lot. And this school was from Lemon proper (which is in the north side) when the school was finished, the people were worried on how to rame their school. Finally they name it Lemon Barrio School The people in the North side took a hardship in going to school because they have to walk four kilometers much more during rainy season, the path was too slippery for both teachers and pupils. So, they decided to have their own school. With the help of the people living in the north and they built a school made of bamboo and cogon grass.
Later there were two schools for Lemon, one situated in the south and one in the north. To distinguish one from the other one was name by their natural location Lemon Sur and Lemon Norte respectively. (The spelling of lemon was changed accidentally to Limon by the school signboard). It was year 1924 happened upon the construction of the school in the north or Lemon Norte.
Barangay Lumon Sur was established in 1924 just after the construction of the school.
Stories of old sitio’s within the jurisdiction that are now depopulated or extent. Silagon is a Sitio west of Limon Sur on the other side of the river. The old people called this place Silagon before, meaning when there was a flood in Looc River, this Sitio checks the flood from destroying houses, lives and property of the people. In Visayan it means salag sa baha. Grande had no name before the coming of the Spaniards. When the Spanish soldiers reached this place, they asked the people the name of the place. The people could not understand the Spaniards because talking in Spanish. The natives thought that they went there to fight the giant who the people ften see appearing now and then among the hills who frightening the people. They told the Spaniards that it was a very big fellow with supernatural strength. The Spaniards understood the sign of the natives, so they called the place Grande
