Before the Spaniards come to the country, most places including the Island of Tablas have no names. Most of the settlers live along the coastal plains and valleys. Upon arrival of the Spaniards in Tablas under the leadership of Governor Teran the settlers lived along the coastline of the island. The settlers occupied the land without legal documents of ownership. Noticing the viability of the places for settlements Gov Teran drove the each settlers to the hinterlands where they areas and declare ownership to the lands they tilted. But the land along the coastal areas which they believed fertile and good for vegetation were claimed by the Spaniards After years at subjugation by the Spaniards the settlements in the hinterlands developed and progressed. Thereon Governor Teran decided to give names of settlement forming us Village. On their tour of the area they cleared and planted to lemon Trees Upon seeing the good place, they required the name of the owner of the place Leon Gabay to declare ownership of the place and occupied by his clan Houses of light materials were built in the areas, and when the Spaniards passed by they were entertained with chickens and goats during their stop over The Spaniards inquired of the fruits planted. Basing on the shape derived from the name of the citrus plants predominant in the piantation.

     The early settlement of union stretched from sitio cogon from the north to Lunas Southward. Presently the area or Boma was divided into two barangays. They called it Brgy. Limon Norte & Limon Sur

     The early legal history of the place originated during the later part of the American occupation with the development of American-oriented schools education as necessary to barangays, schools were established in Limon as early as 1920-1921 The first teacher was Mr. Gregorio Montano. The house of Mr Francisco Villarmino was used as the school, later Mr. Hermogenes Gaa donated a 1 3/4 hectares, for the school site. Since there were increase in populahon as the years go by, the former Mayor Crispin Grimares divide the barangay into two namely Limon Norte and Limon Sur.
